Lautoka’s Botanical Gardens are a major attraction and these beautiful, lush gardens feature a wide variety of tropical plants and flora which are labelled with their common and botanic names. Weekday visitors can often see the onsite horticulturalist working among the plants and offers a wealth of knowledge on the vegetation. There is also a playground for children opposite the park making it a great day out for the whole family.
As part of the North Coast, Suva is about 3 hours east of Nadi and 45 minutes from Pacific Harbour affording it with a wide range of attractions and activities within easy reach. All the island holiday favourites like cultural tours, snorkelling and scuba diving are offered as well as a championship golf course, large cultural centre, a number of dining options and the manmade tiki pools beach nearby.
A little closer to home is the Municipal Market in the heart of downtown Suva offering a range of fresh produce and tropical fruits and vegetables. To the left of the markets is the Municipal Handicraft Centre which offers the fantastic opportunity to pick up a range of traditional straw goods, wooden carvings and handmade souvenirs.
A visit to the Fiji Museum is also a great way to discover Fiji’s rich culture and ancient history with a host of South Pacific artefacts on display. However you choose to spend your time on the North Coast, there’s plenty of options to make your tropical Fiji holiday a memorable and relaxing one.
